Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) / Lead Pharmacist

As we continue to grow, we’re preparing for our next chapter of leadership by recruiting a Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) / Lead Pharmacist to help guide operations, strengthen clinical excellence, and support a positive team culture.

The Opportunity

Black Oak Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacist-in-Charge / Lead Pharmacist who is passionate about community pharmacy and ready to step into a leadership role.

This position is ideal for a pharmacist who:

This role is planned for winter 2026 as part of our strategic staffing and leadership development plan – meaning the right candidate can potentially be identified early and considered for a start timeline that aligns well for both parties.

Key Responsibilities/Your Day-to-Day

As PIC/Lead Pharmacist, you will:

Patient Care & Clinical Leadership

  • Provide high-quality medication dispensing and patient counseling
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with patients, caregivers, and prescribers
  • Promote patient safety, education, adherence support, and service excellence

Operations & Compliance

  • Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge (as applicable) and ensure full compliance with:
    • Oregon Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations
    • DEA and controlled substance requirements
    • HIPAA policies and pharmacy SOPs
  • Oversee workflow design, accuracy, documentation, and process improvement
  • Support inventory management and quality assurance procedures

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and support pharmacists, technicians, and front-end staff
  • Foster a positive, accountable, team-first culture
  • Train staff on pharmacy operations, best practices, and customer care standards

Service Growth & Innovation

  • Help identify opportunities to expand pharmacy services and enhance patient care
  • Partner with pharmacy leadership to improve efficiency and build scalable systems
  • Represent Black Oak Pharmacy as a trusted healthcare resource in the community

Qualifications

Required

  • PharmD degree from an accredited program
  • Active pharmacist license (or ability to obtain Oregon licensure)
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy law and compliance
  • Strong communication skills and patient-first mindset

Preferred

  • Prior experience as PIC, Lead Pharmacist, Staff Pharmacist with supervisory duties, or pharmacy operations leadership
  • Experience in community pharmacy workflow management
  • Interest in service expansion / clinical program development
  • Proven leadership and team development skills
